Aurelio De Laurentiis brought some welcome news to the people of Naples during an event held in his honor, where he was presented with the “2025 Lifetime Achievement Award.”
This is because he revealed that the “Partenopei” will move forward with the construction of a new 70,000-seat stadium—a site has been secured, and it will be ready in 24 months!
“I’ve found the site; it’s 39 hectares in eastern Naples. There are plans for a 70,000-seat stadium, complete with suites and restaurants. In addition, there will be an interactive museum where visitors can virtually play alongside anyone they want: Maradona, Cavani, Higuaín. “It will take time and millions of dollars, along with a museum dedicated to Diego Maradona. We’re playing in a stadium that needs to be demolished,” he said initially, adding:
“The regional government wants to invest 150 million euros and the city council another 50 million euros, but that won’t do anything to solve its problems. I’ve called it a toilet more than once, so what can they do with 200 million euros? If they want to have fun, let them, but I’ll keep playing there until I build the new stadium. It won’t take forever—just 24 months.”
