The president of Budućnost confirmed that he had been in contact with Nikola Mirotić, revealing that the two men discussed the Montenegrin forward’s future.

As he clarified, there is no specific offer from the Podgorica team, and Mirotić’s top priority is to remain in the EuroLeague.

At the same time, the president of Budućnost emphasized that the team’s door is open, provided that future circumstances allow the experienced star to return to Montenegro.

“I see that quite a bit of… commotion has arisen; I’ve been reading the reactions. It’s true—we spoke. I had a drink with Nikola Mirotić, who is currently in Montenegro, where he’s training at our youth team’s training center, as he does every year. I took the opportunity to speak with one of the most successful Montenegrin players.

We discussed a range of topics, including personal matters and, of course, basketball. We also discussed Nikola’s career and its future. He told me that he is waiting for offers from the EuroLeague, which is his top priority. I don’t want this statement of mine to be misinterpreted, but as a serious and responsible man who leads the biggest team in Montenegro, I told Nikola that we are always at his disposal.

If at any time, his ambitions and personal circumstances allow it, our door is wide open for him—both for Budućnost and for the Montenegrin national team.

It was my duty as president of the country’s basketball federation to have a conversation with someone who is from Podgorica, who is from Montenegro and has had such a distinguished career.

There are no details or specific offers. It was simply a conversation about basketball, and it was my duty as a responsible person to tell him that it would be a great honor for us if his aspirations and personal circumstances allowed him to be part of,” he explained in detail.
