The matches come one after another in quick succession. There’s no time for disappointment—only for regrouping and preparing for the next match.
No one on our national team was happy with the draw in Latvia. The 0-0 score doesn’t reflect how the match went, but that can’t be changed.
Now, everyone on our team is focused on the match against Armenia this Friday (October 2) at GSP Stadium. A win is the only option if our national team wants to remain in contention for one of the top two spots in the group.
“Don’t get discouraged. Keep your heads up. Six points are at stake at our home stadium, and we’ll have to give it our all to turn things around in the group,” was the message Akis Mantzios sent to his players in the locker room immediately after the match against Latvia ended.
Today’s schedule included a morning training session in Latvia. By evening, our national team will return to Cyprus, and starting Wednesday, preparations will shift to the GSP Stadium.
On Wednesday afternoon, our national team will train at the GSP and complete its preparations for Thursday’s match against Armenia at 7:30 p.m.
Konstantinos Sotiriou and Tsaroulla, who have each received two yellow cards, will not be available for the match against Armenia.
