UEFA is taking a step back, but that doesn’t mean it won’t come back even tougher and more relentless if circumstances and conditions call for it to do so again.
Shortly before the start of the Champions League group stage draw, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) emphasized that it is lifting its decision to boycott FIFA tournaments, as it had announced in response to Infantino’s unthinkable decision to sell the World Cup rights.
In fact, reference was made to FIFA’s assurance that the plan prepared by its president is now a thing of the distant past, has been rejected, and will not resurface in any form in the future.
“Our position on lifting the boycott of FIFA tournaments—namely the U-20 Women’s World Cup, the U-17 World Cup, and the U-17 Women’s World Cup, but if circumstances change, then it will be reinstated with immediate effect…” the European Football Federation stated.
