To mark the start of the new soccer season, the President of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), Haris Loizidis extends his best wishes to all the players and fans alike and expresses his hope for a competitive and high-quality league.
At the same time, he congratulates Omonia and Paphos on their participation in the League Phase of the Europa League and the Conference League, respectively.
Mr. Loizidis’s message in full:
“Today’s kickoff of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan marks the beginning of the 2026–2027 soccer season, with the expectation of a competitive and high-quality league, in which the on-field action will always take center stage.
The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) has been working closely with the clubs over the past period to ensure the best possible preparation for our competitions. Our priorities remain the smooth running of these events, safety at the stadiums, and continuous improvement in all areas, including refereeing.
Cypriot soccer has made significant strides, and we must continue in this direction. The Federation, clubs, the government, and fans all share a common responsibility to protect the sport and create the conditions for full stadiums, with respect for all those involved.
As the new season begins, I wish all teams—in every division and age group—the best of luck in the competitions that will kick off in the coming weeks.
Special congratulations to Omonia and Pafos FC for qualifying for the League Phase of the Europa League and the Conference League, respectively. The presence of two Cypriot teams in the League Phase of European competitions is a significant achievement for Cypriot soccer and confirms the progress made in recent years.
To the players, coaches, referees, officials, and fans, I wish you good health and a year filled with beautiful soccer and competitive success.
“Here’s to a great start for everyone.”
