Olympiacos secured a narrow victory in its EuroLeague-style friendly against Fenerbahçe!
In their first official preseason friendly ahead of the new season, the European and Greek champions defeated Fenerbahce 82-77 in Heraklion, Crete, in the second semifinal of the Crete International Basketball Tournament.
After a back-and-forth contest throughout the game, with Giorgos Bartzokas taking the opportunity to experiment with different players and lineups, Olympiacos secured a narrow victory, led by Fournier and Dorsey, who… carried the offensive load in the fourth and decisive quarter!
Thus, Olympiacos will face Red Star in the tournament final, which will take place on Sunday evening (September 6, 8:30 p.m.), against Red Star, which earlier defeated Olimpia Milano 85-91.
The top scorer for the “Red-and-Whites” was Fournier with 19 points, while Hall (16 pts, 8 reb), Dorsey (15 pts), Joseph (10 pts), and Jones (10 pts, 5 reb). Endai made his debut with 2 points and 3 assists, while Miller-McIntyre had a quiet game (2 points, 2 assists). On the other hand, Baldwin stood out for Fenerbahce with 16 points and 5 assists.
Olympiacos took the court without its captain, Kostas Papanikolaou, who did not travel to Crete due to discomfort he felt while playing for the national team, but also without Larentzakis, who is expected to leave to join AEK. Vezhenkov was also left out of the 13-man roster due to discomfort in his left elbow, while Milutinov and Montero did not play either, as they were given a rest.
Quarter scores: 17-21, 34-37, 57-58, 82-77
