The mood was quite different at the Aris and Karmiotissa camps following their 0-0 draw in the fourth matchday of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan.
Artyom Radzhkov took responsibility for the “setback” and focused on his players’ lack of scoring ability. At the same time, he took a dig at the refereeing, saying that there are other factors that influence a match.
Alexis Garpozis seemed pleased with the point gained and the team’s overall performance, though he admitted that his team could have achieved a better result.
Here’s what was said in detail:
Aris (Artiom Radzkov): “We expected a tough match and tried to score early to open up the game. We had plenty of chances, but we weren’t able to capitalize on them. I don’t want to discuss anything beyond the on-field aspect—I’m the coach. A game can change, and there are other factors that can influence it. Soccer is for the fans, and I want them to see a good game and nothing else. I accept my share of the responsibility. We need to improve our finishing, and we’ll keep working on it.”
Alexis Garpozis (Karmiotissa): “We put in an excellent effort as a team; we had the strength, and I’m satisfied with how the week went. We could have gotten more out of it, even though Aris was the better team overall and had more chances. The players put in an exceptional effort; we knew the opposing team was fast at home, and we knew we’d struggle as a team at some point during the game. I’m satisfied with the players’ effort. The guys are putting in an excellent defensive effort, and we have some solutions we’re waiting for on the offensive end. The team will be better after the league break. Yiannakopoulos wasn’t recommended to us by agents; we found him ourselves, and we knew he wasn’t in top form, but he’ll help us going forward and will definitely earn us points. Tachtsidis helps us both on and off the field. He’s exceptional. Savvidis, too, is performing admirably. I’m satisfied with the guys.”
On the points tally: “We aren’t satisfied with the points, but we are satisfied with the management and the fans for their support. Karmiotissa could have earned a few more points; that’s what we wanted as a team.”
