Artyom Radzhkov appeared at the press conference, expressing his complete satisfaction with Aris’s first 1-0 victory over Krasava ENY in the third matchday of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan.
The 41-year-old coach expressed his belief that his team deserved the victory and congratulated the players on the character they displayed.
On the other hand, Ivan Stojković acknowledged the opponent’s superiority, praised his entire team for their first-half performance, and focused on the defensive error which led to the goal.
Here’s what was said in detail:
Artyom Radzhkov (Aris): “It was our first win of the season, so I want to congratulate everyone on the team. That first win is really very important, especially for our young players. It was a win we deserved, based on how the game went. We showed character, and of course we need to improve.
We have to respect our opponent. Today we played against a good team. They may not have any points in the league, but as you saw, they played very well and are trying to play soccer. Some might have expected us to create chances every 2 or 3 minutes, but that’s not how it works.
In the first half, we had some issues with our defensive transitions, but in the second half we made some adjustments and improved in that area. It was something we also experienced in the game against Apollon. And that’s why I’m satisfied with today’s game, because we had longer stretches of good play.”
Ivan Stojković (Krasava ENY): “Congratulations to Aris. The first half was our best of the season. We were in control and should have capitalized on it, but we didn’t manage to. In the second half, the opponent took control; we were anxious and very nervous. I understand that, since we hadn’t earned any points after two games and there was pressure to get something out of the match. In the end, our opponent scored a goal off a mistake on our part. Mistakes at this level are punished. Unfortunately, we lost yet another game. Congratulations to our players—the spirit and effort were there, but we need to believe in ourselves a little more.”
