Anas Salah-Eddin gave his first interview as a Panathinaikos player and set the tone—both on a personal level and in terms of his goals with the “clover”.”
The Moroccan left back explained how he was persuaded by the Panathinaikos staff to say “yes,” to aim high in Greece and Europe, and to convey their message to the “Green” fans…
Here is what Salah-Eddin said in detail:
“I’m very happy; Panathinaikos is a huge club in Greece. I’m thrilled to be here. I knew that Panathinaikos is one of the biggest clubs in Greece, with a rich history and a large fan base. What made me decide to come was the plan they presented to me. I spoke with the technical director and the coach, and they convinced me. Those discussions were very important, since you’ll be working with them. The conversations I had with them had a positive impact on me and made me decide to come. They were very positive toward me. They were very excited about me, and I was excited about the plan they presented to me. They have high goals for this season. We have to achieve our goals as a team. Every place is different. There’s different pressure, a different country, a different city.
I’m fast, good with the ball, and strong on defense. I believe I can bring all these qualities to the team. I can help the team a lot, and I’m determined to do so. My personal goal for this season is to have a very good season. I want to play a key role and help the team as much as I can. But also to go as far as possible in Europe. That’s why I came here.
Of course, the fact that Azedine Ounai, Imran Luzza, and the two guys from the Netherlands are here played a role in my decision. The fact that they’re here is also part of why I chose this club. I believe they’ll help me adjust more quickly, including on the field, because we speak the same language and can communicate easily. And of course, they’ll help me. They’re great guys, and I’m really happy to be here. I’m very happy and excited to be here. I can’t wait to meet you at the stadium and see you there. We need your support this season, so let’s go all out together.”
