On the other hand, Ángel López highlighted his players’ individual mistakes and called for improvement as they look ahead to the rest of the season.
Here’s what was said in detail:
Rubén Sayés (AEK): “We expected a tough game. We controlled the match but weren’t quite as comfortable as we could have been. Nevertheless, we were decisive and effective in the final third and scored. We got the result we wanted, and then we scored two more goals to seal the victory.”
On the team’s strong start with seven goals: “We got off to a good start. I arrived at the last minute, but we agreed that’s no excuse. With everyone’s help, we need to be ready for every game. We have a lot of work to do to bring out the best in the team. Of course, winning helps with that. We have to push ourselves to keep up this good run.”
Ángel López (Nea Salamina): “I feel bad for our fans who came to support us and created such a great atmosphere. We wanted to give them the three points, but we didn’t manage to do so. We played well at certain points in the game and were in control at times, but some individual mistakes led to this result. We’ll keep working hard—we’re only in the second matchday, and I want to emphasize that. We’ll analyze today’s game and move forward.”
