In the early hours of Thursday (September 3), Stefanos Tsitsipas celebrated advancing to the third round of the U.S. Open, with the Greek tennis player delivering a stunning performance and coming from behind to defeat Lloyd Harris 3-1 in sets.
The 28-year-old Greek champion returns to the third round of the U.S. Grand Slam for the third time in his career and the first time since 2021, having shown excellent form in the U.S. in recent days, reminiscent of his glory days.
Now, Stefanos must overcome the challenge posed by the Czech player, Jiri Lehecka (No. 19), on Friday night (September 4) to reach the round of 16 in a major tournament for the first time since January 2024 and his run at the Australian Open.
However, Tsitsipas has already secured a significant rise in the world rankings thanks to his performance so far on American courts, as the Greek tennis player, who started the U.S. Open at No. 53, is currently ranked No. 47 in the world.
