A megaton “bombshell” in the EuroLeague, as according to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews, Shane Larkin is preparing to leave Anadolu Efes after eight years and continue his career with Fenerbahçe.
The American guard, one of the top players in the modern EuroLeague, is reported to have reached an agreement with the Istanbul team, with the move now in its final stages and only the signatures remaining to finalize the deal.
According to the same sources, the agreement between the parties involved (Larkin, Efes, and Fenerbahçe) is essentially a formality and is expected to be finalized within the next 48 hours.
Larkin had recently signed a contract extension with Efes through 2028, but he reportedly agreed to pay approximately $400,000 out of his own pocket to be released early, forfeiting the final month of his contract.
Meanwhile, at Fenerbahçe, he is expected to sign a contract with lower earnings than his previous one, which was close to $4 million per year, with neither side covering the difference.
Larkin’s move is already being hailed as one of the most sensational “bombshells” of recent years in the EuroLeague, with the Efes leader switching teams within the same city and preparing for a new chapter in his illustrious career.
