AEL’s 10th consecutive transfer signing was also the most impressive, both in terms of his resume and his overall performance.
Stefano Denswil joins the Limassol-based team to make a difference in the center of the defense, drawing on his experience at the top level of European soccer.
The 33-year-old from Suriname came up through the Ajax youth academy, where he made a total of 39 appearances. He then enjoyed a successful six-year stint with Club Brugge, where he celebrated three league titles, one cup, and two Super Cups.
At the same time, he was loaned out by the Belgian club for 1.5 seasons to Bologna, where he got a taste of Serie A and played in 31 matches during the 2020–21 season.
In 2021, he transferred to the Turkish club Trabzonspor, where he stayed for three years, playing in 103 matches and even winning the league title. His last stop before AEL was Kayserispor, and last season he made 31 league appearances, though his team was ultimately relegated.
