Real Madrid didn’t waste any time… taking up the gauntlet and responding to the scathing remarks made against it by LaLiga president Javier Tebas.

Just an hour after Tembas’s “attack” on the “Merengues”—in which he claimed that Real… was hiding its on-field problems behind excuses about poor refereeing— the Madrid club responded with extremely harsh remarks.

Specifically, it described the president of La Liga “obsessed” with Real Madrid, constantly disparaging and attacking the team, and openly calling on everyone to remove him from his administrative position since he does not represent the league with honesty and integrity!

The full statement reads:

“Regarding the statements made by La Liga president Javier Tebas, Real Madrid wishes to state the following:

Our club considers it unacceptable that the president of LaLiga uses his institutional position to continue disparaging and attacking Real Madrid in the manner he does on every public. Furthermore, it is particularly concerning that the person responsible for representing and protecting the interests of all LaLiga clubs continues to be fixated on Real Madrid, turning our club into a constant target of his public attacks.

His latest intervention is particularly serious and incomprehensible—inappropriate for a responsible administrator—as he made it while commenting on an article by an independent journalist in a digital media outlet. Nevertheless, he is lashing out against our club, even going so far as to presume to evaluate our sports strategy—an act that is utterly irrational and irresponsible.

It is utterly astonishing that the president of LaLiga devotes his time and his personal social media channels to constantly attempting to publicly discredit Real Madrid, instead of using the authority of his office to help build trust in the institutions that are supposed to guarantee the impartiality of the competition. In doing so, he continues to damage the image of our league and of Spanish soccer worldwide.

Given this unacceptable and persistent behavior, we believe that professional soccer in Spain urgently needs a leader capable of managing it and fully developing its potential, while upholding the fundamental obligation of neutrality. It needs someone who understands the nature of the office, because the president of LaLiga is not the owner of the league, but an administrator serving the clubs that make up the league and have entrusted him with its management. We, the clubs, need someone who will serve this mission with integrity.”
