Dimitris Giannoulis remains at the center of transfer rumors involving PAOK.
The 30-year-old left back, who transferred to the German club from Norwich in 2023, is reportedly eager to return to Greece to play for PAOK, which is stepping up its efforts to bring the international defender back home.
At the same time, Dimitris Giannoulis is, by all accounts, expected to be present at Augsburg’s first training camp for the new season, which is scheduled for Monday, July 13.
According to the German team’s reporter for Bild, Johannes Berner, discussions between Augsburg and PAOK are ongoing, though the situation is far from straightforward. In fact, he made it clear that no immediate progress or agreement is expected.
At the same time, the Greek left back still wants to return to PAOK, having already reached a full agreement with the Thessaloniki club regarding the personal terms of their contract.
PAOK intends to explore every possible avenue to bring the Greek international left back back into the black-and-white jersey, as the club considers him a key addition to next season’s roster. This particular case is part of the club’s broader strategy to invest heavily in high-level Greek players.
A prime example is last year’s move to sign Christos Zafeiris, with PAOK showing a willingness to go well beyond its budget in order to strengthen its core of Greek players.
