There are new developments regarding Spartak Moscow’s interest in Paphos’s João Correia, as, according to “sport.ru,” talks to sign him have been temporarily put on hold.
Juan Carlos Carcedo’s team has prioritized other transfer targets, with Correia remaining a backup option in case the other deals do not go through.
In any case, the 29-year-old winger is under contract with Paphos through 2028 and is coming off an outstanding season, with 12 goals and seven assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
The report reads as follows:
“Spartak has put negotiations for the transfer of Paphos winger João Correia on hold. According to Metaratings, the Cape Verde national team player remains an alternative option for the Moscow club in case it fails to reach an agreement with other candidates.
According to the source, the Red-and-Whites are not currently actively pursuing the signings of Maxim Samorodov from Akhmat and Sergei Pinyaev from Lokomotiv. At the same time, Samorodov remains among the potential options to bolster the squad; however, Spartak considers the asking price for his acquisition to be excessive. As a result, his transfer this summer is considered unlikely.
Earlier, it had been reported that Koreia was considered the leading candidate to strengthen the winger position.
Last season, the 29-year-old player appeared in 36 matches for Pafos across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists. His contract with the Cypriot club runs through May 31, 2028. Transfermarkt estimates the player’s value at 1.3 million euros.”
