Stefanos Tsitsipas is in excellent form in Tokyo. The 28-year-old Greek tennis player (No. 44) came from behind to defeat Tomás Martín Echeverri and advance to the second round of the Japan Open (ATP 500).
Tsitsipas, who advanced to the main draw after two wins in qualifying, lost the first set to the 27-year-old Argentine (No. 30) 6-4, but took the next two sets, 6-3 and 6-4.
He will now face Valentin Vassero (Monaco, No. 18) on Friday for a spot in the tournament’s quarterfinals.
