After being relegated from France’s professional leagues and after considering the possibility of joining the Adriatic League, Monaco registered to compete in the country’s third division, which is semi-professional.
Following these developments, former team player Matt Strazel spoke to L’Equipe about the rapid changes affecting the Principality’s team.
Specifically, he noted that the public will react positively to Monaco’s promotion, adding that it remains to be seen whether the league’s appeal will diminish.
Here is what Strazel said in detail:
“The French public will be happy that Monaco is no longer there. I have the feeling that this was something that had been expected for a long time. No one wanted to see them. So, I feel sorry for them.
We’ll see if the league fares better without them. Because, from the looks of it, a lot of people don’t like Monaco. We’ll see if the league remains just as appealing.”
