Olympiacos and AEK Reach Agreement on SUNEL Arena – Larentzakis’s Time at AEK Is Also Coming to an End

It becomes his temporary headquarters
ALPHANEWSLIVE

AEK and the “Red-and-Whites” appear to have reached a preliminary agreement on Olympiacos’ use of the SUNEL Arena, so that the Piraeus-based club can use the Ano Liosia indoor arena as a temporary home while renovation work is underway at the SEF.

The two sides appear to have agreed on the basic terms of the partnership, and all that remains is for the contracts to be signed to finalize the deal. In fact, according to reports, Olympiacos is expected to register the SUNEL Arena as its home arena with the Professional Sports Committee on Wednesday (September 9).

The lease will essentially be on a per-game basis, as it is not yet clear exactly when construction work at the Peace and Friendship Stadium will be completed. As things stand, Olympiacos’ return to the Peace and Friendship Stadium is not expected before January or February 2027.

At the same time, all signs point to a special seeding system being implemented for the league draw to ensure that AEK’s and Olympiacos’s home games do not overlap, since the two teams will be using the same stadium for a period of time. The draw is expected to take place next week, provided the necessary procedures are completed on time.

Reports indicate that the agreement also includes the clauses requested by the Union to protect the stadium. Specifically, safeguards have been included regarding potential damage to the facilities during Olympiacos’s time at the Ano Liosia indoor arena. The issue of these specific terms was one of the topics discussed during the negotiations between the two sides.

The agreement also paves the way for Larentzakis

The development regarding the SUNEL Arena is also expected to resolve the situation involving Giannoulis Larentzakis.

The international guard is in advanced talks with AEK, and once the agreement regarding the arena is formally finalized, immediate developments are expected on this front as well. Talks between the two sides have made significant progress recently.

Larentzakis is reportedly set to sign a three-year contract, with his total earnings estimated at approximately 2 million euros, while Olympiacos is expected to receive a sum in the range of 150,000–200,000 euros as part of the agreement.

Thus, once the deal for the SUNEL Arena is signed, everything points to the way being cleared for the completion of Larentzakis’s return to AEK.
