Beşiktaş, looking to sign another top striker to partner with Leandro Trossard, and had even shown interest in Vangelis Pavlidis, had begun negotiations with Dušan Vlahović, whose contract with Juventus had expired.
The Serbian forward’s top priority was to move to one of the top five European leagues, which is why he kept delaying his talks with the “Black Eagles.” Vlahović, who had previously worked with the Italian coach at Fiorentina, had several phone conversations with the experienced manager regarding the transfer, as revealed in a report by “Fanatik.”
Since he was unable to secure the offer he was hoping for from Europe, the 26-year-old forward recently turned down an offer from Saudi Arabia as well. According to reports in the Turkish newspaper as well as Italian media, Beşiktaş finally managed to reach an agreement with Vlahović on a three-year contract.
The Turkish team’s German sporting director, Edward Graf, who had taken charge of the negotiations, traveled to Serbia to meet in person with the player and his agent. The deal was finalized in just 48 hours, following intensive talks, with both sides reaching an agreement.
Beşiktaş will pay the Belgrade-born international forward 10 million euros as a signing bonus, while his annual salary will also amount to 10 million euros. At the same time, the contract for the former Fiorentina and Partizan player includes performance bonuses for both easily and more difficult-to-achieve goals.
