The match looked like it was going downhill for the 28-year-old from the very beginning. The veteran Serb took the first set 6-3 without facing any real threat, while in the second set he faced stiffer resistance but ultimately won it 6-4. Given how the match had unfolded and with the score at 2-0, the final set was the easiest, with Novak taking it 6-2.
