The transfer market is heating up, with Manchester City at the center of the action due to Rodri’s impending departure for Barcelona.
While the two clubs may not have reached a final agreement yet, the “Citizens” have already begun scouting the market for his replacement. At the top of their list is Enzo Fernández, who has emerged as the leading candidate for the midfield.
According to David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, the “Citizens” have been in negotiations for days to sign the international midfielder, with talks at an advanced stage.
Chelsea, however, has clearly set its terms, as it appears willing to discuss the sale of the Argentine only if an offer of 140 million euros is made. In fact, the “Blues” have set a deadline of Friday (August 14) at 5:00 p.m. UK time for any progress to be made on the matter.
Of course, everything will depend on the Rodri situation, with Manchester City issuing an ultimatum to the “Blaugrana” regarding the transfer fee for the 2026 World Cup MVP. More specifically, the Catalans raised their offer to 60 million euros as a fixed amount, with an additional 6 million euros in bonuses. However, City has not changed its stance and has insisted on its initial demands, asking for 82 million euros for the player’s transfer.
The international midfielder is in the final year of his contract with Enzo Maresca’s team, while talks regarding an extension of their partnership have made no progress. The Spanish midfielder is reportedly seriously considering the possibility of starting a new chapter in his career, a fact that further complicates the situation.
