Following the loss to Salzburg in Austria in the third qualifying round of the Europa League, Paphos General Manager Haris Theocharous spoke to the media.
In particular, he expressed optimism ahead of the second leg and stated that the team is capable of turning the series around. At the same time, he emphasized that the fans don’t need to be urged to attend—they should be there to support the players.
In detail
“They’re a very good team with very good players, but we showed—despite several unexpected absences—that we have what it takes and can stand up to them. The team has pulled off comebacks before, and I imagine there’s no need to call on the fans— the fans need to be there; it’s a night when we have to rise above ourselves against a very high-quality team, and the fans need to help. We’re expecting some new additions, but these circumstances in the qualifiers are something we can’t predict, and injuries do occur during matches—even though we have our targets, if something comes up, we’ll bring in players for that position. Kina and Brito will be evaluated. We don’t even need to call on the fans—the stadium has to be packed.”
