The second matchday of the Champions League group stage ended in the worst possible way for the Italian teams.
Not only did the four teams from our neighboring country fail to earn any points in their matches, but they ended the two-day stretch with four losses in as many matches.
Specifically, yesterday, Roma suffered a major upset at the “Olimpico,” watching Real Madrid come back from a 3-1 deficit in the 83rd minute to win 4-3, while Como also suffered a comeback defeat at the hands of Feyenoord in the Netherlands (3-2)!
On Tuesday, Inter suffered a painful home defeat, losing 4-3 to the impressive Club Brugge at the “Giuseppe Meazza,” while Napoli returned empty-handed from Spain after a 3-1 loss to Villarreal.
Thus, Italian soccer made history for all the wrong reasons in Europe’s premier club competition, as it had never before suffered four losses on the same matchday in the Champions League!
