From 1962 to 1982, he played for Evagoras, making 453 appearances and being part of the team that celebrated its first promotion to the First Division.
He then went on to have a distinguished coaching career, serving with the Cyprus national teams up to the men’s level, and also served as Technical Director of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA).
In detail:
“The Pafos FC family expresses its deep sorrow at the loss of Takis Charalambous, an iconic figure in Pafos and Cypriot soccer.
Takis Charalambous served soccer with consistency and dedication, both as a player and as a coach and technical director. As a player for Evagoras Paphos, where he played from 1962 to 1982, he made 453 appearances in all competitions, a club record. He was also a member of the team that celebrated Evagoras’ historic first promotion to the First Division during the 1967–68 season.
This was followed by a distinguished coaching career, during which he served all of our national teams, up to and including the Men’s National Team, and also served as Technical Director of the Cyprus Football Association. In 2003, he took over as head coach of A.E. Paphos 2000, the unified team representing our district.
His contribution to soccer in Paphos and Cyprus spanned many years and was substantial, leaving a distinctive mark on the history of the sport.
PAFOS FC extends its sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and all those who had the honor of working with and knowing the deceased.
May his memory live on forever.”
