The news of Manu’s death has sent shockwaves through the soccer world; he lost his life in a car accident on Saturday night (July 11), at the age of just 43.
The Portuguese former winger, who became known to Cypriot fans while playing for Ermis and Paphos during the 2014–15 and 2017–18 seasons, respectively, was killed when the car he was driving veered off the road in the Sobral de Monte Agrasso area, near Lisbon.
Following the announcement of the tragic news, Benfica issued an official statement expressing its deep sorrow over the loss of its former player.
Manu played for Benfica from 2004 to 2008, making 17 appearances. He played in 25 matches for the Aradippou team, scoring four goals, while he did not see any playing time with the “Blue and Whites.”
