Lionel Messi’s Argentina came close to winning back-to-back World Cups but fell short, suffering a 1-0 defeat to Spain and thus finishing in second place in the tournament.
The “Albiceleste” fans expressed their pride in the effort put forth by Lionel Scaloni’s players, and this was evident in the way they welcomed them back in Buenos Aires.
And that’s because the welcome reserved for them by Argentine fans was as if… Messi’s team had won the trophy, with thousands of people gathering early at Ezeiza Airport, as well as along the route the team took to the soccer federation’s training center.
We would like to remind you that neither Messi nor nine other players (Rodrigo De Paul, Enzo Fernández, Lautaro Martínez, Julián Álvarez, Jeronimo Rui, Nico Paz, Cristian Romero, Nahuel Molina, and Juan Musso) did not travel with the Argentine squad to Buenos Aires.
Simply 𝐀𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚, don’t try to understand it
