In this announcement, the Omonia Association bids farewell to Doros Serafeim, honoring his many years of service and his significant contribution to the club.
At the same time, it expresses its condolences to his family and announces a series of tributes to pay the smallest possible tribute to his memory.
The club’s statement:
“Doros Serafeim was an iconic figure for our Omonia, having made many years of invaluable contributions. With his vision, his dedication, his rational thinking, his candor, and his integrity, he made a decisive contribution to the progress and greatness of the Queen of Cypriot Sports, leaving behind a remarkable and enduring legacy.
His return during the most difficult years of our history will remain unforgettable; at that time, without any hesitation or fear, he answered Omonia’s call and once again took on the responsibility of serving the club.
The Board of Directors extends its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. The memory, contributions, and legacy he leaves behind will serve as a source of inspiration and a guide for the future for all of us.
As a mark of respect for his memory, the Board of Directors has decided:
- That a delegation of Board members attend the funeral service, lay a wreath, and express the Association’s sincere condolences to his family.
- The flag at the Club’s headquarters will fly at half-mast for the next three days.
- All of the Association’s teams are to play their first official match wearing black armbands as a sign of mourning, and a one-minute silence is to be observed before the start of the matches.
The Board of Directors will continue its work with the utmost respect for the values, historical legacy, ideals, the sporting spirit, and the ambitious goals that have been an integral part of the history of the Omonia Nicosia Sports Club from 1948 to the present, values that Doros Serafeim served and embodied with consistency and integrity.
Board of Directors of the Omonia Nicosia Sports Club”
