On Thursday, Olympiacos will bring Basque coach Imanol Alguacil to Greece for his first training session with the “Red-and-Whites.”

The 55-year-old was handpicked by Antonio Cordon, who had also wanted him at Sevilla. He prefers the 4-1-4-1 formation and began his coaching career at Real Sociedad B (as an assistant).
He then took over as head coach of the first team at the same club from 2018 to 2025. This was followed by his tenure at Al-Shabab, which will last until February 2026. He has a very strong track record overall. In the 2019–2020 season, he won the Spanish Cup.
