After 16 full years, Nikolas Koutsakos is leaving APOEL.
The Cypriot forward is heading to IK Start in Norway, and in a social media post, he bids farewell to the Nicosia-based team where he developed as a soccer player.
“The time has come to say goodbye to the team I grew up with, loved, and supported since I was a little boy,” he emphasizes.
Here is his post in full: “Today is one of the most difficult but also most important days of my soccer career so far. After 16 years, the time has come to say goodbye to the team I grew up with, loved, and have supported since I was a little kid.
APOEL was never just a team to me. It is one of the most important parts of my life and my childhood. This is where I came of age, where I learned what it means to wear this jersey, to fight for the crest, and to give my all for the fans.
I want to thank all the coaches, my teammates, the club staff, and everyone who helped and supported me every step of the way during my time at APOEL. Above all, however, I want to thank the APOEL fans for the love and support they’ve shown me during these difficult years the team has been going through. I wish the team every success in achieving all its goals and returning to its glory days.
Thank you for everything. I will always be one of you.”
