“I leave proud that, during this time, I was able to contribute to making a club as great as Olympiacos even greater. I am certain that our paths will cross again in the future.”
José Luis Medilibar’s first message following his dismissal from Olympiacos:
“Yesterday marked the end of my professional tenure on the Olympiacos bench. It was nearly three years, and what I’ll remember most of all are the emotions and the fact that I enjoyed every moment.
I want to thank Mr. Marinakis for the opportunity he gave me to coach such a great club as Olympiacos. Our relationship went beyond the bounds of a professional partnership. It was always close, sincere, and based on trust, even during difficult times.
I also want to thank all the staff and members of the coaching staff, who—in the club’s day-to-day operations and at the training center—made me and my colleagues feel right at home.
I thank the players for their effort, dedication, and willingness to always keep the bar of expectations as high as this club deserves.
And above all, I thank the fans. From the very beginning, they showed me their unwavering support and love—sometimes overwhelming, but always with respect, sincerity, and warmth.
I leave proud that, during this time, I was able to help make a club as great as Olympiacos even greater. I’m sure our paths will cross again in the future.
GO OLYMPIACOS!”
