Shaquille McKissick posted a touching message on his personal Instagram account on Wednesday (June 24) to bid farewell to Olympiacos after seven years with the Piraeus-based team.
Since February 2020, when he arrived in Greece to join Giorgos Bartzokas’s squad, “Sak” has been adored by Olympiacos fans like few others, and with the “Red-and-Whites” he won every available title, both domestically and in Europe, with this year’s EuroLeague, of course, serving as the crowning achievement of his tenure.
The 35-year-old American had recently been informed that a series of discussions would take place with the team regarding his possible continuation in Piraeus. For his part, the player had informed the club that he had received offers from other teams, decided to accept one of them, and is now preparing for the next chapter of his career.
Through his post, McCishick attempted to offer his own “summary” of the seven years he spent at Olympiacos, while also sending his own message to the club and its fans.
McKissick’s touching post:
“SEVEN SEASONS. ONE JERSEY. ONE HOME.
Piraeus gave me more than just a team. It gave me a family.
Thank you for welcoming me with open arms from day one and making Greece a home for me and my family. The memories, the championships, the Final Fours, and every moment I experienced wearing the red and white will remain etched in my heart forever.
For seven seasons, I proudly wore No. 77 and gave my all for the club, the city, and its fans.
No matter what the future holds, Olympiacos will always be a part of my life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Olympiacos forever.”
