PAOK wants to resolve the Giannoulis situation quickly, but it does not appear likely that this will happen.
A German media report claims that Augsburg is in no rush to make a decision and estimates that it will take weeks for the club to decide what to do about his situation.
“PAOK continues to pursue Dimitrios Giannoulis. Augsburg is under no pressure to sell. For the 30-year-old, it would be a return to his former club, with which he already had a contract through 2021. However, Augsburg holds the upper hand: Dimitrios Giannoulis is under contract with the club through June 2028, and the Bundesliga team would ideally like to keep the Greek international for at least one more season. “Augsburg doesn’t need a quick sale,” reports the website come-on.de, adding:
“However, the transfer saga has been going on for quite some time. Dimitrios Giannoulis had previously expressed interest in returning to PAOK Thessaloniki. It remains to be seen whether this will ultimately happen or whether Augsburg will reject this and any further offers from PAOK. The issue is likely to keep the club busy for a few more weeks.
Last season, Dimitrios Giannoulis made 29 appearances for Augsburg, contributing two goals and five assists during the Fuggerstadter’s generally comfortable campaign. “It is very likely that these will be his last appearances for the team.”
