Trinieri: “Six months ago, we would have called anyone who said we’d end up here crazy.”

The Italian coach showed his enthusiasm

Andrea Trinceri expressed his satisfaction with PAOK’s participation in the 8th “Pavlos Giannakopoulos” Tournament, noting that the invitation to this event is yet another sign of the progress made by the Thessaloniki team.

The Italian coach particularly emphasized the importance of the tournament and the high caliber of the participating teams, describing PAOK’s presence at the OAKA as an honor.

At the same time, he made it clear that the team’s results and performance during preseason are not his primary goal. What he wants to assess is PAOK’s competitive momentum and its potential for improvement, as the start of the official season is now just around the corner.

Trinieri even mentioned the change that has taken place in just a few months, noting that PAOK’s participation in such a major tournament would have seemed unlikely not long ago.

Here’s what he said at the press conference:

“Good evening, and thank you very much for bringing us here. If someone had said six months ago at PAOK’s offices that you’d be invited to this tournament, we would have thought they were crazy. It means we’re on the right track. The word that comes to mind when I see what’s happening here—the name of the tournament—is ‘magnitude.’ This is the magnitude of basketball. It’s an honor for us to be here. It’s a preseason tournament. I don’t care where we stand right now; I want to see how far we can go because in a week we have official games. Thank you very much again, because it means a lot to us to be here.”
