Triantafyllos Tsapras is officially a Panathinaikos player for the next four years, as announced on Monday afternoon (June 22) the “Green” club announced on Monday afternoon (June 22).
The 26-year-old Greek defender is the club’s second signing of the transfer window and is expected to arrive on Tuesday afternoon (June 23) in Apeldoorn, where the team is currently undergoing the main phase of its preseason training under the guidance of Jakob Nistrup.
Shortly before boarding his flight to the Netherlands, Tsapras spoke to the official channel of Panathinaikos FC, giving his first interview as a new player for the team.
Here’s what he said in detail: “When I heard about Panathinaikos’ interest, I was, of course, very happy. It’s every kid’s dream to play for Panathinaikos, a huge club. I didn’t have any second thoughts. I think this is the best thing for me.
I spoke with the president and the technical director, Mr. Kotsolis. He played a very important role; they made me feel really welcome. They showed me that they really want me on the team, and that was a key factor in my decision. There may have been interest from other teams, but the reason I made this decision was because of the way the president and the technical director spoke to me—they made me feel so at ease. From the very beginning, Panathinaikos showed me just how much they wanted me compared to the other teams.
What I can offer Panathinaikos is—of course—100% in every game, whether it’s one minute or 90, whatever it takes. I like the attacking style—pushing forward, creating chances, and being there when needed on defense.
Wearing the Panathinaikos jersey, as I said, is a lifelong dream for every kid, and that’s true for me, too. It’s something magical, and I’m so happy I made it happen.
I’ve spoken with Katri, who was my teammate at our previous club (ed. Levadiakos); he explained a few things to me, gave me some guidance, and I’m very happy that we’ll be teammates from now on.
I’ve faced Panathinaikos as an opponent; the atmosphere was incredible, the fans were behind us from start to finish, and I’m very happy that I’ll get to experience that myself.
Our goal every year is the league title and as many trophies as we can win. And a very strong run in Europe.
I’d like to tell the Panathinaikos fans that we’ll give it our all in every single game, and that in the end, we’ll all be happy.
A year from now, I’d like for us to have won the league title, the Cup, and to have had an amazing run in Europe.”
