Stefanos Tsitsipas took… revenge for Stefanos Sakellaridis and secured his spot in the quarterfinals of the Almaty Open!
On Wednesday afternoon (10/21), the 28-year-old Greek champion secured an impressive 2-0 set victory (6-1, 6-2) in just 62 minutes, securing his spot in the third round of the ATP 250 tournament.
Playing at a fast pace with tremendous intensity and consistency in his shots, Stefanos reached break point eight times, converting four of them on his Kazakh opponent’s serve—the same opponent who had eliminated Sakellaridis in the previous round.
Now, Tsitsipas—who saw his ranking rise four spots to No. 35 in the world—will face 34-year-old Australian James Duckworth, ranked No. 73 in the world.
