Greek international, Christos Tzolis, who has been with Arsenal since this past summer, answered questions from “Gunners” fans through the “Ask Me Anything” column, noting, among other things, when he realized he could excel at the highest level.
At the same time, he expressed his excitement at being part of the English Champions’ roster, noting that his teammates and the team staff made him feel right at home.
Here’s what he said in detail:
On training with Arsenal:
“We’re all trying to help each other out. We’re a team that wants to improve, and the goal is to win every time, so the standards in training are high.”
On his diet:
“Actually, we’re very careful about what we eat. My usual breakfast, I’d say, is an omelet with avocado, give or take, or sometimes oatmeal, because I like to mix up my breakfast. As for cheat meals, maybe after a game I might eat something a little more indulgent. I like some sweets after the game. I might have a brownie or something like that. But nothing excessive. It’s important to eat healthy.”
On when he realized he had what it takes to play professionally:
“That’s a good question. I think around the age of 12 or 13, I realized I was pretty good for my age. I scored a lot of goals in Greece.
Obviously, back then my goal was to play for PAOK’s first team. That happened at a young age—when I was 18—when I made my debut. So, around the age of 13 or 14, I knew I could become a first-team-level soccer player.”
On joining the English champions:
“It’s a truly incredible feeling to sign with Arsenal, especially since the team won the Premier League title last season. I immediately felt right at home. I can see there’s a great atmosphere in the locker room here.”
