Ramon Vega is ready to challenge Gianni Infantino for the FIFA presidency. The 55-year-old, a former Swiss international defender and Tottenham player, has announced his intention to run in the upcoming elections for the World Football Federation and is now the first to challenge the current “powerful” figure.
“I am running to reunite the global soccer family, to bring about real and lasting reforms, to modernize FIFA for the 21st century, and to restore the stability, credibility, and trust that our sport urgently needs,” Vega said at the outset, while also harshly criticizing the current leadership.
“Soccer is in the emergency room, on life support. We can’t wait any longer. FIFA needs a new direction and fundamental reforms,” he emphasized.
