From the Spanish overtime games to the Ioannina match!
Olympiacos faces the Vikos Falcons today (10/18) at the “Sideris Karadimas” Indoor Arena for the third round of the Stoiximan GBL, aiming for its third straight win.
The “Red-and-Whites” are coming off two big road wins in the EuroLeague: a 102-97 win over Valencia, after overcoming a 28-point deficit, and a 105-100 victory over Barcelona. Both games went into overtime, bringing their European record to 5-1 and their confidence sky-high, though the physical toll has also taken its toll.
In the Greek league, Olympiacos stands at 2-0, having defeated Heraklis 78-68 and Kolossos 99-83. They’ll face the newly promoted team from Ioannina, who are looking for their first win after losses to Panathinaikos and Karditsa, most recently an 85-74 defeat in Thessaly.
The biggest issue for Giorgos Bartzokas is the available players. The injured Gian Montero and the suspended Ta'ariq Jones are out, while Evan Fournier is sitting out to rest. Tyler Dorsey will also be absent following the internal issue that arose from his comments. Meanwhile, Doda Hall and Nikola Milutinov are dealing with minor injuries, and their participation remains in doubt.
