Marseille continued its downward spiral in the French league.
The Marseille team failed to get a result at the home of the strong Rennes side and suffered yet another 1-0 loss.
A goal by Thomason in the 52nd minute (a close-range tap-in following a scramble in the box) proved to be enough for the home team.
They managed to hold on to the lead until the end, and with their third consecutive victory, they climbed (albeit having played one more game) to the top of the standings.
In contrast, Olympiacos’ opponent in the Europa League group stage suffered yet another setback (following losses to Monaco and Paris FC) and remains near the bottom of Ligue 1.
