Playing in a World Cup final is a tremendous honor, not only for the players but also for the referees. Slavko Vinčić has been appointed to referee Sunday’s big match between Spain and Argentina, and the Slovenian will be assisted by his compatriots TomaKlatsnik and Adatš Kovačič, while Jordanian Adham Mahadme has been named the fourth official.
When FIFA’s head of refereeing, Pierluigi Collina, announced that the 46-year-old referee was his choice for the grand final, he burst into tears.
Until now, Vinsic’s greatest moments in his career had been the 2024 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Dortmund, and in 2022, he officiated the Europa League final between Eintracht and Rangers.
