The head coach of the Egyptian national team, Hossam Hassan, as well as international winger Mostafa Zico, let their frustration and “clouded” thoughts come to the surface after Argentina’s epic 3-2 victory in Atlanta.
Overcome with sadness at the elimination and, for some reason, voicing strong complaints about the refereeing, the “Pharaohs’” coach said:
“They wanted to keep Argentina and Messi in the tournament, and they succeeded. Now that we’ve been eliminated, I’m not going to watch any more matches in this World Cup. Argentina had a lot of support.”
For his part, Zico, who saw one goal correctly disallowed and another perfectly valid, said: “Everything is rigged in Argentina’s favor. Congratulations on winning the trophy, because that’s where they’ll end up. The referee destroyed the efforts of an entire nation.”
