Dimitris Giannakopoulos welcomed with satisfaction the news of the arrest of the president of the Greek Basketball Federation (EOK), Vangelis Liolios, referees, members of the Central Refereeing Committee (KED), and an associate of his, on very serious charges of bribery and match-fixing.
“You wanted a war with me. You thought you’d win… Ha! You didn’t ask. One loss—and even that, if I want to, I can turn it around now—but in any case. My love to all of you. You wanted war? War!” he initially stated in his posts.
“I’m waiting to see the stance of the people who, for so many years—without any of the authorities ever having been held accountable—slandered our victories and championships, and walked out in the middle of games… I’m waiting to see how they’ll condemn the things that have come to light and are still coming to light,” he added a little later, taking clear jabs at Olympiacos, while in a separate post he pointedly remarked: “Give back what was stolen!”
