The president of the APOEL Supporters’ Club, Kyriakos Zivanaris, spoke to “Super Sport 104.0” following the Annual General Meeting.
He began by explaining the reasons for retaining the current board of directors and also emphasized that Savvas Liasis’s investment proposal is the best possible one.
He also mentioned the financial… injection of one million euros from investors to cover old debts and the renovation of the club’s headquarters, which will be fully ready for the 100th-anniversary celebrations.
In detail
On the board’s decision to remain: “It was a very important general assembly, partly because of the 100th anniversary, and the atmosphere was very good. In March, when we rejected the Brazilians’ proposal, we said we were considering resigning and reorganizing. Given the facts before us and the prospect of an agreement, we felt it would be a mistake to walk away.”
Regarding the Liasis case: “Our proposal in March is very similar to Mr. Liasis’s proposal, and we believe it is the best solution for everyone—APOEL, the club, and the investor. It’s very important for all of us to bring joy to the fans on the team’s 100th anniversary.”
Regarding the one-million-euro financial injection: “We felt we needed to support Haris Fotiou’s efforts so he would have the flexibility to plan until the deal is finalized. It’s very important that we all support this effort. The people who contributed the funds will receive Class A shares, and we thank Mr. Liasis for this.”
Regarding the renovation of the clubhouse: “Day by day, it’s taking on a new look, and you can see the work being done on the building. A great deal of work is being done both inside and outside the building, and by November we’ll be ready to celebrate the team’s 100th anniversary at the club.”
Regarding the department reviews: “We gave all the team captains the opportunity to review their respective departments. I want to thank them all, and I think they’re doing an amazing job—it’s clear to see.”
