The festival will highlight Cyprus’s traditions and cultural heritage, with this year’s special focus on traditional weaving and embroidery. Among others, municipalities, communities, and organized groups from Karava, Lapithos, Athienou, Lefkara, Kapouti (Morphou), Omodos, Koilani, and Fyti will participate.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore tradition and history through hands-on workshops, weaving and embroidery exhibitions, and interactive games for children. The festival will feature demonstrations of traditional crafts, traditional cuisine, dances, and songs.
There will be a traditional pasta-making workshop led by chefs Christina Christofi and Androulla Kefala. The shadow puppet show “Pafios,” starring Karagiozis, will entertain young and old alike, while the “Contemporary Shadow Puppet Theater” will hold a workshop on making shadow puppet figures for children
There will also be a rich artistic program featuring many cultural and artistic groups specializing in dance, tsia-tsia, music, and song. The festival will conclude with traditional songs performed by Vasiliki Hadamou and her orchestra.
Throughout the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional Cypriot cuisine, such as kleftiko, resi, sieftalia, zalatina, trahana, and fresh halloumi and soutzouki made on the spot.
