Marilena Raouna made her first public statement following the Parliament’s rejection of the government’s request to extend her term as Deputy Minister of European Affairs.
Appearing as a guest on the LegalMatters Podcast with Christoforos Christofis, Ms. Raouna stated that “if I felt I had to defend my standing as a professional, as a professional woman, rest assured that I have the voice and the courage to do so myself.”
She added that she chose not to do so.
“I don’t agree with that, just as I don’t agree with being targeted myself; I also don’t agree with anyone else being targeted.”
At the same time, she added that she believes in the political maturity of the political forces, while also sending the message that the issue does not concern any one individual or a single government.
“If more time is needed to examine certain data and engage in this dialogue, let’s do that and see together how we can move forward for the good of Cyprus,” he noted.
