The six enclosed-type tow trucks, with which the Fire Department was equipped for rescue operations in the event of natural or other disasters.
The handover took place in the presence of Fire Chief Nikos Logginos.
The new mobile technical rescue units are equipped with specialized gear for responding to natural and other disasters, enhancing the Service’s rapid response and operational readiness throughout the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, with the capability to provide assistance in another country if required.
The six fire trucks significantly contribute to upgrading the Fire Service’s capabilities, with the aim of more effectively protecting human life, citizens, and infrastructure. To this end, the Special Rescue Unit (EMAK) conducted training sessions for all Fire Department personnel throughout Cyprus.
The process of equipping the towable trailers, which is carried out by the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) under the supervision of the Commander, Fire Chief Charalambos Charalambous, was inspected by Chief Fire Officer Mr. Nikos Logginos.
The equipment was procured as part of the “EPIKENTROSIS,” which is co-financed by the European Union (ERDF) and national funds from Greece and Cyprus, through the Interreg VI-A Greece – Cyprus 2021–2027.
