Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, stating that the Strait of Hormuz will remain under Tehran’s full control, supervision, and management for the next 30 days.
The remarks were made during his visit to Iraq, where the Iranian foreign minister said he briefed his Iraqi counterpart on the latest developments following the “war imposed on Iran,” as he put it, as well as the memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the United States.
“The Strait of Hormuz remains under Iranian control”
Araghchi asserted that the Strait of Hormuz will remain under Iran’s “full supervision and control” for the next 30 days.
As he noted, once all obstacles are removed, the sea route will be able to return to full capacity.
“The Strait of Hormuz will remain under Iran’s full supervision and management for the next 30 days, and once all obstacles are removed, the sea lane’s full capacity will be restored. This is what we are working to achieve,” stated the Iranian foreign minister.
“The responsibility lies with the Islamic Republic of Iran”
Araghchi insisted that the responsibility for managing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz lies exclusively with Tehran.
“This responsibility lies with the Islamic Republic of Iran. There is no other party or state involved in this matter,” he said.
According to him, the issue is “absolutely clear” based on the memorandum of understanding with the United States.
Warning Against “Unilateral Actions”
The Iranian foreign minister warned that any interference or unilateral action by another party could exacerbate the situation.
As he said, such a move would not help restore full operation of the sea route, but could instead cause further delays.
“Any intervention or unilateral action will lead to a worsening of the situation and will delay the reopening of the Straits,” Aragtsi said.
