Donald Trump announced that he is canceling the 20% retaliatory tariffs he had announced less than 24 hours earlier, saying that the tariffs will be replaced by “trade agreements”.

“Based on extremely productive discussions with Middle Eastern leaders, I have decided to replace the U.S. 20% compensation fee with trade and investment agreements that various Gulf states will enter into with the U.S.," Trump stated in a post on Truth Social.
Yesterday, the U.S. president announced that his country is reinstating the naval blockade against Iran and referred to the imposition of a fee that the United States will collect, equivalent to “20% of the value of the cargo” on ships wishing to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
