Roy Keane made a scathing comment on the issue of sanctions against Manchester City.
Referring to the “Citizens’” guilty verdict on 114 violations and the fact that their management (knowing about the irregularities) made transfers totaling 524 million euros, the United legend was—as always—blunt.
He stated characteristically:
“They knew they would hurt a lot of people, but they did it anyway. If I were a player who had achieved success in those years—one of those we’ve idolized—I’d 100% throw my medals in the trash. It’s cheating. We hear nonsense from veterans saying, ‘They earned them on the field,’ but there was deception involved.”
